Galveston County District Clerk Jason Murray Charged With Assaulting Wife Outside Houston Bar

Galveston County District Clerk Jason Murray
Houston, Texas

When it comes to the holidays, Jason Murray knows how to throw a punch party.

Galveston County District Clerk Jason Murray geared up for the holidays by visiting “fist city” and getting an early gift – charges for assault on a family member. The family member, according to authorities, was his wife Mekisha Jane Murray.

The family violence incident occurred following a Christmas party at Roak, a club in the upper Kirby district of Houston.

The couple had an argument and Murray allegedly struck his wife with his hand in their vehicle. His wife was further injured trying to get out of the vehicle and she was treated for a severe laceration at an area hospital, reports state.

The police incident report indicates Murray was cited for an offense defined as “assault bodily injury by hands, feet and/or fists.”

Witnesses outside the party saw the assault and called police.

Murray and his wife are residents of League City. Mrs. Murray is a criminal defense attorney who practices law in Houston.

Jason Murray took office as Galveston County District Clerk in January 2011.

West Texas Deputy Justin Lee Jones Arrested and Fired for Reckless Injury To A Child

Justin Lee Jones
Lubbock, Texas

Lubbock County deputy Justin Lee Jones has been arrested and fired after being accused of reckless injury to a child. Jones failed to secure a gun that one of his sons used to accidentally shoot another.

Police say the 4-year-old boy survived being shot in the abdomen by his 5-year-old sibling, who allegedly used their father's service weapon.

Lubbock County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Jason Stewart on Thursday said 32-year-old Justin Lee Jones was arrested following his termination.

Jones, who'd been a deputy for more than seven years, was freed after posting $100,000 bond Wednesday. Online jail records did not list an attorney for Jones.

Stewart says Jones was indicted Monday over the Aug. 20 shooting of his then-4-year-old son, Tyler.

East Texas Sheriff's Deputy Eddie Nichols Facing New Allegations of Sexual Indecency With Child

Deputy Eddie Nichols
Marshall, Texas

Back in September, former East Texas Sheriff's Deputy Eddie Nichols was arrested and charged with two counts of indecency with a child. Authorities also arrested the deputy’s wife, Sharon Nichols, and charged her with 1 count of indecency with a child.

It appears that arrest has prompted another victim to come forward.

A woman tells investigators that back in 2002 when she was fifteen years old, Nichols let her swim at his house on several occasions. In the arrest warrant the woman states that after swimming, Nichols would bathe her while she was totally nude in the bath tub.

Investigators began questioning the woman after her former counselor came forward and told the authorities that she remembers a young girl under her care telling her that she spent a lot of time with Nichols and that the young girl felt uncomfortable. The counselor came forward after learning of Nichols initial arrest back in September.

The arrest warrant states that Nichols met the girl during her attempt to run away. Nichols was reportedly called to a vacant house where she was hiding. According to the warrant the two formed a relationship after the incident and Nichols wanted to be her role model.

Nichols was arrested and held on a $100,000.00 bond.

San Antonio Cop Victor Gonzalez ‘Cops a Plea Deal’ for Sexually-Based Offenses Involving Teenage Girl

Victor Gonzalez
San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio police officer Victor Gonzalez, obviously afflicted with serious sexual issues, has accepted a plea deal involving his sexually-related offenses. The 28-year-old police officer, Gonzalez, was originally accused of accosting an 18-year-old woman for sex after she was targeted for a drug arrest four years ago.

Gonzalez pleaded no contest Wednesday to one count of official oppression and will lose his Texas peace officer's license. In exchange, four counts of official oppression were dismissed. Gonzalez had been a police officer in San Antonio for six years.

His sentence includes one year of deferred adjudication probation, a $500 fine and 50 hours of community service.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Gonzalez stopped the woman as she was walking on the South Side and asked whether she was a prostitute and needed money. She said she wasn't a prostitute, could use money and didn't want to be arrested on a drug charge under a then-active warrant, the affidavit states.

Gonzalez then drove to a park near the Riverside Golf Course and called a friend to meet them there, while another SAPD officer, Michael Munoz, arrived shortly afterward and fondled the woman, according to the document. But Munoz had no money, so Gonzalez directed him to block the park entrance after the other friend arrived, who paid the woman for oral sex, the affidavit said.

Munoz, 36, a five-year SAPD veteran, is awaiting trial on five counts of official oppression.

“When you can see a dismissal in the near future, why risk being in front of a jury ... and put your family through what is said in court?” defense attorney Patrick Hancock said of his client's decision.

Gonzalez is married and has twins.

State District Judge Mary Roman told Gonzalez, “I do take it into account that you will never be a police officer again and that is important. People who are charged with the responsibility that you once had are held to a higher standard.”
