Former Houston Police Officer Harold Clayton Busted Again for DWI After Crashing Into Business, Fleeing

Houston, Texas

The other day, a story made the news in Houston, involving a drunk driver who fled the scene after crashing into a lighting company in northwest Harris County Thursday night.

The driver was eventually tracked down and what a surprise, he turned out to be a former Houston police officer.

Harold Clayton Jr., a former officer with the Houston Police Department, was charged with DWI and failure to stop and give information.

Clayton, driving a Chevy Tahoe, crashed into The Lighting Gallery located in the 6200 block of FM 1960, sending bricks and glass flying everywhere. A witness who saw the crash followed Clayton to the Promenade Apartments in the 5900 block of W FM 1960 and alerted authorities.

As with many other Houston police officers who we’ve written about, Clayton has a rather interesting history. This is his third DWI charge in the last six years. He was arrested and charged with DWI in 2008, while he was still a member of the police force. That case was dismissed.

Clayton retired in 2009. He was arrested again on DWI charges early this year in February.

Katy Police Officer Cody Parchman Fired Following Crash That Killed a Mom and Her Son

Katy Police Officer Cody Parchman
Taylor McShan
Houston, Texas

A police officer in Katy is without a job today, after his involvement in a fatal crash that killed a woman and her 12-year-old son. Investigators say the driver of the pickup truck who hit the family was drunk and the officer was actually the passenger in that truck.

Katy Police Officer Cody Parchman was originally suspended and put on administrative leave early Thursday morning right after that deadly wreck. On Friday, Parchman was officially fired.

Katy Police Chief Bill Hastings says he had no choice but to fire Parchman, who had been on the force for about a month. Chief Hastings made the scene after Thursday morning's deadly accident and told us he had reason to believe the off-duty Katy police officer was intoxicated.

It was Parchman’s truck that crashed into the mother and her teenage son. Parchman was riding in the passenger seat. Taylor McShan, the man driving Parchman's truck, is suspected of being drunk and has now been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.

The victims, Katherine Addison, 48, and her son Kendall, 12, had pulled over on the shoulder of I-10 just west of Brookshire after getting a flat tire in the early morning hours. Police say as the mother was trying to fix the tire, a pickup truck slammed into their car, causing it to burst into flames, killing the mother and son.

According to the Katy Police Department, Parchman will not face any criminal charges.

San Antonio Cop Already on Leave for Driving Drunk Has Done It Again

San Antonio Police Officer Roland Alvarado

San Antonio, Texas

A trooper with the Department of Public Safety stopped San Antonio Police Officer Roland Alvarado and subsequently arrested him on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

The DPS, however, was not able to provide any specific details regarding the arrest.

Alvarado was taken to the Comal County Jail and released about three hours later, after posting a $2,500 bond, jail records show.

Alvarado, 43, was already on administrative leave from the police department since his arrest three months ago on a drunken driving charge.

He was taken into custody Feb. 11 after hitting a park car outside of a local club. Investigators at the scene said Alvarado smelled like alcohol and failed a field sobriety test.

It's unclear how the latest arrest will affect his career with the police department. A request for a statement from SAPD or an interview with Chief William McManus was not honored.

When contacted by phone, Michael Helle, president of the San Antonio Police Officers Association, said that he was "sad to hear about "the second arrest” and that Alvarado "has been having a rough time lately."
