Harris County Deputy Eleazar Gongora Charged With Sexually Assaulting a Child

This is just not a good week for the Harris County Sheriff’s Department. Not only have we seen a deputy accused of fictitious reporting, but now we learn that one is a pedophile.

Deputy Eleazar Gongora is the molester in question, after being arrested and charged with continued sexual abuse of a child, a felony.

Gongora was arrested Friday by sheriff’s deputies working with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.

The victim is a girl under the age of 15 who is in Gongora's family, investigators said.

The investigation of the crimes was conducted by HCSO law enforcement officers.

Gongora was assigned to the Mental Health Unit in Harris County Jail. He joined the HCSO in March 2000. His employment status is under review as a result of the charges against him.

Killeen Cop Kirt Yarbrough, Sr. Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teenage Explorer Scout

A police officer in Killeen was arrested Thursday and charged with sexual assault in connection with what investigators are describing as an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old member of the department’s Explorer Scout program.

Kirt Yarbrough Sr., a 16-year-veteran of the Killeen Police Department, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with sexual assault.

The arrest comes after an investigation that started on Jan. 4.

While the incident that led to the arrest appears to be isolated, the department’s Explorer Program, which was established in the 1980s, has been suspended to allow for a review, police said in a press release Thursday.

Department policy specifically prohibits fraternization between Explorers and adult leaders, police said.

East Texas Sheriff's Deputy Eddie Nichols Facing New Allegations of Sexual Indecency With Child

Back in September, former East Texas Sheriff's Deputy Eddie Nichols was arrested and charged with two counts of indecency with a child. Authorities also arrested the deputy’s wife, Sharon Nichols, and charged her with 1 count of indecency with a child.

It appears that arrest has prompted another victim to come forward.

A woman tells investigators that back in 2002 when she was fifteen years old, Nichols let her swim at his house on several occasions. In the arrest warrant the woman states that after swimming, Nichols would bathe her while she was totally nude in the bath tub.

Investigators began questioning the woman after her former counselor came forward and told the authorities that she remembers a young girl under her care telling her that she spent a lot of time with Nichols and that the young girl felt uncomfortable. The counselor came forward after learning of Nichols initial arrest back in September.

The arrest warrant states that Nichols met the girl during her attempt to run away. Nichols was reportedly called to a vacant house where she was hiding. According to the warrant the two formed a relationship after the incident and Nichols wanted to be her role model.

Nichols was arrested and held on a $100,000.00 bond.
