Houston Police Officer Under Investigation for Fatal Shooting, After Witness Disputes Officer's Account
Houston, Texas
Police say the woman had a gun and refused to drop it. The shooting happened last month in southwest Houston and now, a witness is only talking to Eyewitness News, disputing the police version of what happened.
That witness statement is now part of the internal affairs investigation which is being conducted at HPD headquarters. Brent Justice openly admits it was dark, but assured police his eyes weren't playing tricks on him.
Houston Police Officer D. Hoang shot and killed 20-year-old Ciara Lee, a suspected robber who according to HPD pointed a gun at the officer when he commanded her to drop it.

Upshur Co. Sheriff, Judge and Commissioner Officials Charged With Oppression
Upshur County, Texas
Three Upshur County Officials were charged with official oppression and abuse of official capacity by a grand jury.
Sheriff Anthony Betteron, Judge Dean Fowler, and precinct 3 Commissioner Lloyd Crabtree all turned themselves in after they were charged.
These charges stem from the Upshur County Commissioner's court ending public comments at meetings.

2 Galveston Law Enforcers Arrested on Suspicion of DWI
Galveston, Texas
Two Galveston County law enforcers were arrested in the last 24 hours, suspected of driving while intoxicated, and the arrests came during the enforcement of a New Year's DWI task force throughout the county.
Officials with the Galveston County Sheriff's office confirm Galveston County Assistant District Attorney Lester Blizzard was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving overnight.
In addition to Blizzard, Galveston County sheriff's deputy Tino Ramirez was also arrested for allegedly driving drunk.
Major Ray Tuttoilmondo says deputy Ramirez has been reassigned pending an administrative investigation.
Blizzard heads the felony division which includes the DWI division.

Beaumont Police Traffic Division Lieutenant Gets Pre-trial Diversion Program in Deal for Drunk Driving Arrest
Beaumont police lieutenant has been cleared of criminal charges after going through a pre-trial intervention program.
Last March, a state trooper stopped Lieutenant Ray Beck in Jasper County.
The trooper arrested Beck for driving while intoxicated.
Beck agreed to 12 months in the pre-trial intervention program, which is described as an informal probationary period granted to first-time offenders.
It involves paying a fine and reporting to a probation officer.
If completed successfully, the case is dismissed.
Turns out the judge granted Beck an early discharge from the program.
Beaumont police report that Beck is the lieutenant over the department's traffic division.

Marble Falls Police Officer Arrested for DWI, After Crashing Into Tree
Bertram, Texas
Bertram police arrested a Marble Falls police officer for DWI. Sgt. Brent Nichols, 48, was booked into the Burnet County Jail and has resigned his position effective immediately.
Officials said Nichols crashed a city-owned truck into a tree in Bertram.
Bertram Police Chief Ron Hall said a Bertram police officer was behind Nichols without emergency lights on when the crash occurred, and the officer's dashboard camera was rolling. That video is not available to view during the open investigation.
According to Bertram police, Nichols failed a field sobriety test and agreed to blow into a breathalyzer. Authorities would not release his blood-alcohol level.
