Houston Cops Put on Desk Duty After Chinese Diplomat Beating

Houston, Texas

Three Houston Police officers have been placed on desk duty pending the outcome of an investigation into the arrest and injury of a Chinese diplomat in Houston.

On Friday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry urged an investigation into the incident.

"Protecting the safety of all foreign diplomatic and consular staff in the United States is essential," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said in a statement, "We'll firmly safeguard the lawful rights and interests of China's diplomatic and consular staff overseas."

Update: Names of Police Officers Caught Beating Young Teen On Security Cam

After 8 Houston police officers were caught on security cam beating restrained suspects, the FBI has asked for a copy of the video. The officers were members of the city's Westside Tactical Unit. The security cam was at a nearby business.

Two Pasadena Narcotics Officers Indicted

Pasadena, Texas

Two Pasadena police officers have been suspended with pay after being indicted on charges stemming from two separate incidents involving narcotics investigations.

Raymond Garivey, 39, was indicted on two counts of filing a false report, a class B misdemeanor, court records show.

He is accused of lying to a Harris County prosecutor by denying the existence a witness in a case. The witness, according to the Pasadena Police Department, had given information leading Garivey to arrest a suspect in possession of a large quantity of cocaine.

David Leal, 35, was indicted on two 2nd degree felony charges of tampering with a government record.

Eight Houston Police Officers Removed From Duty After Beating Teens

Houston, Texas



Eight Houston police officers have been relieved of duty, accused of beating up a suspect during an arrest that was captured on surveillance video.

The officers involved were part of the Westside Tactical Unit. The HPD Westside Command Station is approximately three miles away from the storage facility.

Sources say the beating outside Uncle Bob’s Storage goes on for almost two and a half minutes and the officers can be seen high-fiving each other.

Houston Police Officer’s Wife Charged With the Hit and Run Death of 8 Year Old Girl


Houston, Texas

A Houston woman has been charged in last week's hit-and-run death of young girl at a westside park.


Authorities said Vilma Buchala, was the driver who struck 8-year-old Destiny Garcia on March 22 at Bear Creek Park.

Buchala's husband is a Houston police officer. Musick and Harris County prosecutors both said she has not received any special treatment in the investigation.

Bully Officer Arrests Female Driver Over Electronic Ticket

La Porte, Texas

Dana Woodruff said she was pulled over along the feeder road of Highway 146 in La Porte on March 4.

She said the officers wrote her a ticket on an electronic device. When she was handed the electronic device, Woodruff said she couldn't read the ticket.

"He said, 'Sign it or you're going to jail,'" Woodruff said.

She said she signed, but she added "under duress" and the officers' names.

"I was yanked out of my car. I was slammed on the hood. I was handcuffed behind my back, and I was in the squad car in the matter of a few seconds," Woodruff said.
