Houston Police Officer and Accused Rapist Abraham Joseph on Trial for 2011 Sexual Assault

Houston police officer and accused rapist Abraham Joseph

Houston, Texas

Remember Houston police officer Abraham Joseph? Along with having criminal eyebrows, he was also busted for rape back in January of 2011.

I had almost forgotten about him, but readers have been checking in to find out the status of his rape case. Well, his trial is finally underway in Houston.

Abraham Joseph, 27, is accused of arresting a woman and repeatedly sexually assaulting her at a southwest Houston park.

The woman, a waitress and immigrant from El Salvador, said Joseph arrested her and a male companion in January of last year. He dropped off the man by the side of a road and drove her to a dark corner of Townwood Park. She said she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by the officer while handcuffed.

Prosecutors say Joseph used his position as a police officer to target a victim who spoke little English and was afraid her immigration status would be threatened if she reported the assault.

The young woman did call police. She led officers back to the park several hours later where prosecutors say physical evidence of the assault was recovered.

He was fired from the HPD job he’d only held for a year-and-a-half after he was indicted for sexual assault.

If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

Ray Acuna Sucked As A Houston Police Officer, Sucks As Armed Robber Too!

Houston, Texas

A former Houston police officer is behind bars after holding up the law firm where his wife is employed, according to authorities.

Ray Acuna, 26, has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Bail has been set at $100,000.

According to authorities, on August 20, Acuna was waiting in the parking lot of a law firm on the 1700 block of Lubbock Street with a bandana over his face. When his wife left work, he approached.

Acuna can be seen on surveillance tape pointing his gun at her and forcing her to walk back into the business where two other employees were counting money in the office, according to court documents.

He allegedly threw his wife on the floor and pointed his gun at the other two employees.

Cops say Acuna took a purple envelope containing $7,835 in cash from a desk before fleeing the scene through the back door.

Cody Kubash works at the law firm next door. He had no idea what happened until three frantic women ran in from the other building.

"One was in hysterics," he said. "And I did notice right off the bat that they said they had been robbed, yet they had purses."
Acuna reportedly joined the Houston Police Department in July 2009. In January, he was suspended, pending an internal investigation. In February, he resigned.

Police found an HPD raid jacket in the parking lot during investigation.

The investigation continues. However, sources are linking Acuna’s wife to possible involvement. We’ll post details, once more information becomes available.

Jewitt Police Chief Under Investigation

Jewett, Texas

A Jewett patrol officer, Daniel Cheney, is without a job today. He was told the firing was due to budget cuts. However, he wonders if there is a connection between the termination and a complaint he made about Jewett police chief Marty Navarro.

On May 25th Cheney filed a formal complaint with the Texas Rangers Office claiming Chief Navarro was engaging in illegal activities; including harassing officers if ticket quotas were not met each month; as well as selling guns that were confiscated off the streets from criminals.

"An acquaintance of mine actually tried to buy a weapon from him and once I told him it was from the evidence room, he said no and backed out of it,” said Cheney.

The acquaintance has spoken to the press -- on the grounds of anonymity -- out of fear of retaliation.

“He said he confiscated them off of felons, different people, people discharging them in the city limits; other people he had stopped, other people other officers had stopped, so I just took it as, well, he’s the chief of police, so it was okay to buy these guns,” the man said.

Once he learned the transaction could be illegal – the man says he backed out of the deal.

It’s unclear whether or not Cheney is protected by the “Whistleblowers Act." Whistleblowers are employees who report wrongdoing in the workplace to a superior, a law enforcement agency, a governmental agency, or the public and often take such actions at the risk of losing their jobs and careers.

As of now, the Texas Rangers continue to investigate.

Four Houston Police Officers Facing Termination for Ticket Writing Scheme

HPD Officer Matt Davis is one of the accused

Houston, Texas

Today was supposedly the big day for a group of Houston police officers caught up in an alleged ticket writing scheme. HPD confirmed the officers were meeting all day, from 1pm to 5pm, with Chief Charles McClelland. He is holding what you would call a loudermill hearing to determine if the officers will be terminated. They’re accused of running a ticket writing scheme back in 2011. Sources say the officers are accused of signing on to each other’s traffic citation so they all could reap the benefits of overtime.

The cops, who include a Sargent and Officer Matt Davis, are accused of an orchestrated ticket writing scheme.

Officer Davis is of particular note because he’s known as one of the biggest ticket writers at HPD.

Published reports show Davis has actually written thousands of tickets alone in a month’s time.

Ray Hunt with the Houston Police Officers Union said they could have the chief’s decision by late Wednesday. However, no official decision has been released to the public yet. A civilian committee recommended the termination of the officers two weeks ago. However, the final decision will be left up to Chief McClelland!

Brian Bachmann: Brazos Valley Constable Killed In The Line of Duty

Brazos Valley Constable Brian Bachmann

College Station, Texas

Usually, we focus on the misdeeds of law enforcement. Not today, though. I think it is only appropriate to take a moment and turn our attention to one of the good ones who has fallen in the line of duty.

On Monday, shortly after lunchtime, Brazos Valley Constable Brian Bachmann arrived at a home close to Texas A&M University to serve an eviction notice. As he was approaching the home, he was ambushed by the tenant, Thomas Caffall.

Other officers responding to calls concerning the gunfire arrived to find Constable Bachmann unresponsive in the yard, with a wound to the chest. They too came under fire and engaged in a battle that lasted for an extended period. During this time, because of Caffall’s firing rampage, help was unable to reach Constable Brian Bachmann.

In the aftermath, three people were dead, including Constable Brian Bachmann, an innocent landlord and the shooter, Thomas Caffall.

Other police officers were injured, as well as a woman in town simply helping her daughter move-in for college.

A look at the gunman’s Facebook page reveals the danger that existed, including photos of weapons.

Shooter: Thomas Caffall

According to his family, they feared something like this would happen. Unfortunately, Constable Brian Bachmann wasn’t aware of this information, or the gunman’s fondness for guns.

Brian Bachmann was well-respected in the community and by his fellow officers. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
