Houston Police Officer Under Investigation After News Cam Catches Her Punching Handcuffed Suspect

Houston, Texas

A Houston policewoman says she "let her emotions get the best of her" when she slugged a handcuffed armed robbery suspect this week in an incident caught by a news camera crew.

The officer in question is 36-year-old Angela Horton. She was sworn in as an HPD officer in January 2007, served in the U.S. Air Force from 1994 to 2003 and for most of her enlistment she was a military police officer, according to her attorney.

Police Chief Charles McClelland has confirmed that Horton, assigned to the Central Patrol Division, was relieved of duty and an internal affairs investigation was opened shortly after the incident on Thursday.
