The Houston Police Department really leaves a lot to be desired. From the Chad Holley beating tape, to the shooting of a double-amputee in a wheelchair, rapist Abraham Joseph and of course, Sgt. Stacey Suro showing off her ta ta’s all over town, you really have to wonder how the basket of bad apples survives.
Well, there’s a new headache for the chief. Two of HPD’s finest have been busted for providing protection to a cocaine distribution operation.
A press release from United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson said Emerson Canizales, 26, of Kingwood, and Michael Miceli, 26, of Humble, were taken into custody at the start of their shifts at the Houston Police Department.
Both were named in an indictment “charging conspiracy to violate the Hobbs Act and conspiracy to possess a controlled substance.”
The Department of Justice said the officers received a payment of $1,000 for protection they provided to distribute drugs in Houston in late December 2012.
Canizales and Miceli appeared in federal court on Monday. They both posted a $50,000 bond. If convicted, both could face serious prison time. In the meantime, however, they are on administrative leave.
HPD Chief Charles A. McClelland, Jr. released a statement reminding the citizens of Houston about all the hard-working men and women in blue.
Ok Chief, if you say so.
